RODENTS IN THE HOME

Sometimes rats and mice get indoors, creating a nuisance for homeowners. They can damage property, contaminate food, and transmit many diseases. Therefore, effective control methods are essential. Mice/Rats contaminate food with their urine, droppings, and hair.

DAMAGE/DISEASE TO THE HOME/BUSINESS

Anytime you deal with rodents living in and around the home you always put yourself at risk with disease. Rodents can cause structural damage to buildings by their gnawing and nest-building. They can also cause damage to insulation inside your walls and attic. In rare occasions mice can cause damage to larger appliances or electrical wiring by chewing on wires causing fire hazards and malfunctions that are expensive to repair. Rodents can transmit many diseases including salmonellas (which is food poisoning). Ringworm (fungal disease), and lymphocytic choriomeningitis (which is a respiratory diesease). Voles, which are a type of meadow mouse, specifically can cause unsightly damage to lawns and have been know to kill smaller trees due to gnawing and feeding on the root systems of many plants/trees in Wisconsin.

OUR RODENT SERVICES

Our technicians first step is talking with the homeowner and listening to where they have heard noises or have seen the problems. The technician will search the basement and attic spaces to locate areas that the rodents are living. He will search on the outside of the home for entry points and seal up those areas to prevent future infestations. Our technician will implement a program/plan to start reducing the population living in and around the home. Each plan will vary slightly depending on your unique situation. Call for a quote Today!

PROPER PREVENTION

We will work with the home owner and suggest ideas that will solve the problem instead of masking the problem which other companies may do. We use proper closing materials such as sheet metal or a heavy wire mesh that prevents re-occurrences. We use a monitoring system on the inside of the home so you the homeowner knows exactly how many rodents are entering the home.

EFFECTIVE MEASURE FOR THE HOMEOWNER/BUSINESS OWNER

Obviously, proper sanitation is a major factor in keeping a home free from rodents. However, just because you have rodents in the home doesn’t necessarily mean that it is specifically from being unsanitary. Many rodents use the home/business as a nesting place and a home, not necessarily a feeding site. Many times they will leave the home and feed on bird feeders, gardens, pet dishes/food, outside garbage cans, and other areas around your home. You can help reduce problems by eliminating some of these feeding areas or simply moving them farther from your home.

MOUSE CONTROL PROGRAM

Our External Rodent Control program known as ERC, has been one of the most successful programs ever developed by AWC.  Our program features control on the inside and outside of the home.  The program includes home inspection outside and inside, garage, attic and basement areas.  Our technicians are trained to locate and seal off entry locations for mice on the outside of the home.  We work with all commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.

FEATURED ON FOX 6 NEWS:

Our program has been so successful it was featured on Fox 6 television in 2011.  The clip featured one of our customers who had issues with raccoons, squirrels, and especially mice.  She raved about the success of the program and her great relationship with her technician who has been with her through it all!  We have also received the Super Service Award in Pest Control every year since we started with Angie’s List!

MOST, IF NOT ALL HOMES HAVE MICE!

Whether homeowners realize it or not, almost every home we visit have mice living in the basement, walls, attics, and in the garage. Mice, rats and voles can gain access to a home by entering through areas in the garage, underneath stoops, soffits, dormers, foundations and anywhere else there is a 1/4” of space. Mice will travel around the perimeter of your home in search of gaps or points where they can chew into your home. While most mice only live an average of 2 years, they can start reproducing at a very early age, making mouse control a must.  Mice look for warm pockets of air as they travel around your home in search of a point that they can chew into your home.

LOWER LEVEL SEAL:

Perhaps the most important prospect of our mouse program is our ability at finding the entry locations and sealing off those areas.  Most competitors don’t offer this type of service and it is a key component of our program.  Locating the entry points and sealing them with proper materials is a the most vital part of the ERC program.  Sometimes finding the holes can be very easy other times it can be the most challenging aspect of the program.

PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE:

We have developed a plan that eliminates mice before they come into your home. Our bait stations are placed on the outside of the home and are staked, locked, and have the poison secured by metal rods making it nearly impossible for any bait to be removed from the bait station. The boxes are designed to go after our target rodent and help prevent rodents from gaining access into your homes.

SAFETY CONCERNS:

I would guess that nearly half of our current customers have either a cat or a dog living in their homes. With that in mind we keep all bait in tamper proof boxes and have never had a negligent incident with any pets. We use a double lock system that we developed to insure that the poison stays inside the protective stations. Almost all of our employees have their own pets and understand the importance of safety when it comes to a family pet.
Licensed Professionals

All of our technicians on staff are state licensed and certified in pest control. All techs have been trained in the methods of our rodent control program.  Every employee is also fully licensed and certified in all aspects of animal removal as well.
